Show business a.k.a Bollywood

Last week I was reading Show business, a Novel by Shashi Tharoor. As the name suggests a Novel is based on Bollywood. It’s a story of a Superstar. We can actually co relate this story to a story of the superstar of 70s. The superstar in Novel is seriously injured while shooting for a film and his entire journey of Bollywood crosses his mind. The narration is comic and ironic spoof.

While reading this story, I remembered college days. Our college was famous for small shootings. There is a very beautiful street inside our college campus; this street was there in many movies. Also our library has been shot in many of them. So coming back to story, when I got admission, there was one secret desire to see the movie shooting. By the end of second year, I hadn’t seen any shooting as generally it used to happen at night after college hours. And finally that day came; we had a preparatory leave before our 5th semester exam. We were having breakfast; someone brought that news of shooting for Fardeen khan’s new film “Khushi”. Fardeen Khan was heartthrob that time with the song “Kambhkat Ishq” . it was just a small scene in which Fardeen meets Kareena and her father Amrish Puri and have a small talk. We were watching from our hostel rooms with a lot of curiosity. Few of them went down to have close glance of Fardeen. But Our much concerned Warden Mam followed their steps and brought them back by telling them some unknown rule of girls not allowed to watch shooting.

The shooting started just after our breakfast somewhere around 10 a.m. and by the time we came back from our lunch, Fardeen has not been able to walk to Kareena. For one take he was walking to fast. For other take, Kareena was looking way. For third take, he stopped earlier. For forth , someone came in between…and it went on don’t know till when. My entire longing for watching shooting was fulfilled in that entire day and then it turned into frustration as we were not able to study for entire day due to shooting noise, director’s shout on someone, loud talks of extra’s.

After that, there were many shooting sessions , from Hrithik to Salman came and gone in our exam leaves ,  but all of us just used to have one look  at them , increment our list of watching stars and go back to work..

I still wonder , how them make entire film J

Kahaani Puri filmy hai : Three mistakes of my life

With his brand new book “Three mistakes of my life”, Chetan Bhagat has come with a one more interesting story. Also now he has some kind of pattern which repeats in his every book and the story line is getting filmier in each upcoming book. If “Five point someone” is a starting point, then “one night at call center” was absolute Filmy and same applies to this book. . The official website gives a first chapter which is nothing but the astonishing climax situation. But yeah, the book maintains the pace till the end. Unlike to first two books, story is not based on Metros like Delhi or Mumbai, but on Ahmadabad. And as the tag line for the books says, it tells a story about Cricket, Religion and Friendship. He has very brilliantly intermingled all three topics. With great twists a story moves like a movie and appeals to modern youth. However as I said, it’s like a movie, unacceptable turns like India Australia ODI could have been changed.

But overall, it’s a brilliantly polished book for a lazy weekend afternoons

Heartfelt

Few years back..to be very specific , in year 2001,there used to be a column in Bombay times, the name was heartfelt. That time I was kind of a person who used to think news paper is all about the main news paper and never had any special interest in BT...not aware of any of the cartoon series etc.. But somehow on one day, while reading a news paper in my college library, someone took away Times from me for some urgent[:P]check and gave me BT. It was a Tuesday, and on the third page , there was a column 'Heartfelt'..somehow that name sounded poetic and I started reading it..I continued and continued voraciously till I finished it..yeah voracious was the only word for it. Heartfelt was a column by Cyrus Merchant. It was a column about spirituality, life ,God and beliefs..All these words sound so heavy that any one would feel the reading about them would need tremendous effort to concentrate and understand and of course the most important thing to have is interest. But Heartfelt was the exception to this philosophy..Cyrus used to write each and everything in a very beautiful and soothing manner. It was neither like a speech nor a philosophy ..but it was a simple talk with a reader..the biggest thing that article do is 'Hope building'...
Some very beautiful lines were

"Despite all the setbacks and sorrows, life is still beautiful,HIS gift to us, to me, to you. Really, what a gift. See life beyond the one you have and are leading, see it as His gift to you, it's not that difficult and its not that late and HE's waiting. I can tell you this much with certainity - HE's waiting for you"

"don't burn your bridges my sweetheart or else how will the one who is meant for you cross over to you....."

You can't move the mountain... ur faith moves God and God moves the mountain for u...

Change the way u think, change ur life, just commit urself to something bigger and more beautiful than gettin up, going to work, cumin back home and sleeping. You will hav happiness. Just try and first giv something to him.

and so many like this..
I have few of those articles..but i really wish to get that book of all the heratfelt.
The book name is again 'heartfelt' ..I am searching for this book since I came to know about it...but couldn't find it uptil now...may b its on the way..and i will get it when I should get it , not before or not after ..just on time..

Wedding and 'The Wedding'

In last two weeks, I have attended 3 of the best friends’ weddings …so it’s a right time to write on it…Aha nothing shocking as such.. just one more book by Nicholas Sparks which is now my one of the most favorite ..Book is ‘The wedding’.. supposedly a sequel of the ‘The Notebook’. But somehow I wont say it’s a sequel as its an independent story..only thing is Noah and Allie (Lead characters of The Note Book) show their presence in between, but it’s an independent story

We can guess about the story in the few first pages itself. It’s a story about the married life of Noah and Allie’s daughter Jane and her husband. Here is the excerpt from the book itself

“After thirty years of marriage, Wilson Lewis, son-in-law of Allie and Noah Calhoun (of The Notebook), is forced to admit that the romance has gone out of his marriage. Desperate to win back his wife, Jane's, heart, he must figure out how to make her fall in love with him... again “

So it’s very simple to guess the story, but then there comes classic style of Mr. Sparks, which makes the entire book perfect.. I liked the way of narration and a flow and its different from other Sparks books where the story between two people starts and the blossoms…Here it’s an old story which needs reincarnation that makes it very beautiful and sweet.

Oh yes, I haven’t told any thing about characters. The characters of the story is different than any other Sparks book. Jane in story is a cheerful girl, extrovert, social and sensitive.

While Wilson is very simple, hard working, successful and a family person. But he finds uneasy to express his emotions ..and here comes Noah…The entire unfolding of the story is pretty endearing

No emotional complications like any other Sparks book but a very possible case ..

I found it’s a perfect book for a long weekend’s lazy afternoon
